Schropfer Consulting Group Frequently Asked Questions

1. How are you different from my CPA?

CPA’s are typically focused on tax planning and preparing tax returns. We help you identify and measure key business indicators that maximize your business. For example, we can help you forecast cash flow under a range of possible scenarios, or identify your most profitable customer profile so that you can focus marketing resources. Our job, done correctly, will increase the profit that you will report to your CPA.

2. How are you different from my Controller?

The job of the Controller is to get the facts correct: to make sure that financial reporting and controls perform. We help you understand when you can make an effective decision without all the facts. And, when more information is the right answer, we help you understand what to measure and how to accomplish the measurement.

3. How are you different from other consultants that I’ve seen?

4. Why should I hire an outsider for my project?

Our clients typically look to 1) gain access to skills or perspective that their current organization doesn’t possess, or 2) amplify the efforts of their staff, who already have full-time jobs.

However, one of the best reasons to hire an outsider is to avoid preconceptions and schedule slip that results from diversions such as daily firefighting.

5. Why do you call yourself a “group”?

Almost by definition, entrepreneurs are good at commanding resources they don’t directly own. However, the more technical or specialized the resource, the harder it becomes to find someone you trust to do the job.

The Schropfer Consulting Group taps into the very best writers, web developers, database programmers, capital partners, and specialized consultants that we have worked with. In business, it’s important to know the right people, and we have focused on finding those resources. We aren’t a “job shop”, but a practitioner who has already vetted the right partners for a given task.
